Flat in the 7th

I'm in Paris on an extra trip to cover the Opening Ceremony of the International Year of Astronomy, taking place at UNESCO tomorrow.

Actually I have taken a small apartment in the 7th arrondissement (Rue Grenelle) for three months (until 10th April). This evening is my first here. It's just a studio and lacks all sorts of things - oven, microwave, iron, kettle for instance.

But at 80 euros a night, I won't be complaining. Actually if I was being picky, this time of year I could complain but pretty soon hotel prices will launch into the stratosphere (after March introduces "High Season"). It's the apartment of a German woman who's had to return to Munich, leaving a lot of her stuff still in situ. The area is fab but kettle-free.
